For Mrs. Abby Baine, teaching has been a lifelong calling. Now entering her seventh year in education, all of which have been spent at Belton Preparatory Academy, Mrs. Baine continues to inspire her youngest learners through creativity, compassion, and a commitment to helping every child succeed. Her enthusiasm for teaching is evident in every lesson, every celebration, and every relationship she builds with her students.
Mrs. Baine’s passion for education began long before she stepped into her own classroom. Inspired by the teachers who shaped her childhood, she knew from an early age that she wanted to make a positive impact on the lives of children. She pursued that goal by earning her degree in Early Childhood Education from Anderson University, where she also gained valuable experience working as a daycare and preschool teacher. Those early experiences confirmed her desire to become an educator.
After graduating, Mrs. Baine began her career at Belton Preparatory Academy as a first-grade teacher, where she spent four years helping students develop foundational academic skills. She later transitioned to kindergarten, where she has spent the past two years guiding young learners through an important stage of their education. Today, she teaches every subject in her classroom, with reading being her favorite.
One of Mrs. Baine’s favorite memories came during the school’s royal ball celebration following a unit on kings and queens. Kindergarten students dressed in royal attire, danced together, and celebrated everything they had learned. Watching the excitement and pride on her students’ faces reinforced the value of creating hands-on learning experiences that help children connect with their lessons and build lasting memories.
Creating meaningful learning experiences is central to Mrs. Baine’s teaching philosophy. She believes every classroom should be a welcoming place where children feel loved, valued, and excited to learn. Through songs, movement, chants, collaborative activities, and interactive lessons, she keeps students engaged throughout the school day. She also celebrates every achievement, both big and small, to help build confidence and encourage students to continue learning.
Strong relationships are another important part of Mrs. Baine’s classroom. From the first day of school, she works to create a supportive environment where students know they are cared for and encouraged to do their best. She believes that when children feel safe and respected, they are more willing to participate, ask questions, and grow in confidence.
