FLORENCE, SC – On Thursday, September 26, Virtus Academy of South Carolina (VASC) hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate its new addition to campus, a brand-new upper school building.
“It’s exciting to see our students and their families, along with leadership and staff, come together to celebrate this new chapter for Virtus,” said Executive Director Brian Carpenter. “This brand-new, beautiful building will be the home of excellent education for many years to come.”
Along with members of the VASC community, distinguished guests were also in attendance to mark the special occasion. VASC Board members, Dr. Les Echols of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce, and the Charter Institute at Erskine (Institute) leadership all spoke during the ceremony.
“A decade ago, Virtus Academy was nothing more than a dream. Today, that dream has grown into an institution that is a foundation of educational opportunity for the children of the Florence community,” said Institute Superintendent Cameron Runyan. “The addition of this state-of-the-art high school facility provides yet another critical tool to help ensure that Virtus continues to produce opportunity and excellence for generations to come.”
Following the ribbon cutting, VASC hosted a Community Engagement night to showcase their students’ first quarter accomplishments.
VASC is a tuition-free, public charter school in Florence that serves grades K-12. The mission of Virtus Academy of South Carolina is to power student potential through project-based learning, leadership development, community service, and the spirited pursuit of Excellence.
