Lowcountry Leadership hosts Ribbon Cutting for new CTE Lab

Lowcountry Leadership Charter School (LLCS) marked a major milestone as it officially opened its state-of-the-art Career and Technical Education (CTE) Lab, ushering in a new era of hands-on learning.

On Friday, October 17, LLCS hosted a celebration to mark the grand opening of the new facility. In addition to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, this celebration also featured tours, a visit to LLCS’ Leadership Farm to see the Agriculture Program’s plant and animal showcase, photo opportunities, and more.

“It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication to get to where we are today, so that makes this celebration all the more meaningful,” said School Leader, Ms. Julianne Lang. “At LLCS, we place a strong emphasis on project-based, hands-on learning. With the addition of our new CTE Lab, students will have access to an innovative, real-world education. Our hope is that this will equip them with the skills and experiences they need to thrive beyond graduation, whatever path they choose.”

The local community came together to celebrate this milestone for the school. LLCS leadership, staff, students, and families, along with leadership from the Charter Institute at Erskine (Institute) were all present. Local dignitaries included South Carolina Representatives James Teeple and Gary Brewer, and Charleston County Councilmember Joe Boykin. South Carolina Future Farmers of America Officers Kylie Tucker, State Secretary, and Kaitlyn Patterson, State Vice President, also traveled to LLCS for the celebration.

Ms. Lang gives Representative Teeple a tour of the new facility.

“Especially in our rural communities, these charter schools fill a very necessary gap right now,” said Representative Teeple. “We have a gap in funding and we need to, at a state level, increase funding for our charter schools. Not all pathways are the same for every student, so it’s great to have the opportunity to go to a school like this if they want to be more hands-on.”

This new building will serve students of all grade levels who are studying in LLCS’ Agriculture, Digital Arts, and Design programs.

Thanks to the new facility, LLCS students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in agriculture, design, and digital arts.
