The Expanded ADEPT Support and Evaluation System represents a step toward improving teacher professional practice for the benefit of ALL students in South Carolina. The intent of this new approach to teacher evaluation and support is to shine a flashlight on where a teacher’s practice is effective and what they can do to hone their craft. The primary goal is  to use evaluation  as a tool that informs an educator’s professional growth and development. The  emphasis is on the direct connection between teacher practices and increased student learning. Effective teachers focus on identifying student strengths and weaknesses, facilitating meaningful student learning, and monitoring student progress towards their educational goals. The Expanded Adept Support and Evaluation system is a step in the journey to align and strengthen professional practice to support the intended student outcomes.
