New partnership brings weather station to Clear Dot Charter School

COLUMBIA, SC – Clear Dot Charter School (CDCS) has partnered with WeatherStem to install a weather station on CDCS’ building in downtown Columbia.

WeatherStem is a high-tech weather data management system that provides high resolution live weather streaming, weather alerts, lightning detection, heat monitoring, and more. On the company’s website, visitors can explore weather cams from partner locations across the country, now including CDCS.

In addition to using the station to track storms, receive health/safety alerts, and predict future weather events, the staff and leadership at CDCS are eager to incorporate it into their curriculum.

“The weather station is going to be a gamechanger for our science lesson plans,” said Dr. Lindsey Ott, CDCS Principal. “We’re excited to work real-time data into our future lesson plans and teach the students about the weather with our very own weather station on our roof. Not many schools can say that!”

Clear Dot Charter School is a K-11 public charter school that operates with the mission to support the development of Globally Competent Students. It is built on the foundational belief that every student can learn, given the opportunity and support. CDCS is authorized by the Charter Institute at Erskine
