WEST COLUMBIA, SC – A full-ride scholarship to Duke University isn’t the only thing that Jack Stapleton accomplishment that he’s taking from his senior year. Now, the South Carolina Virtual Charter School (SCVCS) senior can add 2025 High School Student of the Year to his resume. Jack was honored with this award at the Charter Institute at Erskine’s Awards Banquet on May 15.

Throughout his time at SCVCS, Jack has created the blueprint of what the Institute Student of the Year should look like, achieving both inside and outside the classroom. He has practiced his leadership in his roles as President of several SCVCS clubs and honor societies.

Throughout his high school career, Jack discovered a passion for School Choice advocacy in his role as one of the Institute’s Charter School Student Ambassadors.  As an Ambassador, he represented more than 26,000 charter school students across the state, both virtual and brick and mortar. He was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Institute as a thank you for his many contributions to the charter community.

Jack will be attending Duke University in the Fall with a highly competitive Commander’s Scholarship from the Air Force ROTC. Upon arrival, he will rank number one in his class detachment.

He was nominated by leadership at his school for his notable contributions to the SCVCS community. According to one leader at SCVCS, “Jack’s contributions to SCVCS have left an indelible mark, and his legacy of leadership, service, and advocacy will continue to inspire students and faculty for years to come. I have no doubt that Jack will continue to be a dynamic force in everything he pursues!”
