Celebrating Brittany Bischoff: May Teacher of the Month

Brittany Bischoff is an experienced educator with a decade of experience in elementary education. Currently finishing her third year at Lowcountry Connections Academy (LCCA), she specializes in virtually teaching English Language Arts to students in grades 3 through 5.

Brittany’s journey into teaching was fueled by the natural curiosity and energy of young children. She loves their eagerness to explore, their desire to learn new things, and the joy they find in discovery. For her, nothing compares to when a student experiences that “aha!” moment when everything clicks. That excitement is what continues to drive her passion for teaching.

Throughout her career—including seven years teaching 4th grade and three years in her current role—Brittany has remained committed to fostering a classroom environment that celebrates individuality, encourages critical thinking, and builds a lifelong love of learning. Her teaching philosophy centers on the belief that every child is a capable learner. She strives to create a dynamic, supportive space where curiosity is welcomed, mistakes are seen as stepping stones, and every student feels valued and empowered.

One of the most impactful periods of her teaching career came during the global COVID-19 pandemic. After teaching in the Horry County school district, Brittany made a pivotal transition to virtual charter school education as a result of the pandemic. Despite the challenges of the time, Brittany found that the shift to virtual learning deepened her ability to connect with families. She built meaningful relationships that helped empower her to teach her students on a more individualized level.

What Brittany loves most about teaching in a virtual charter school is the flexibility it offers and the ability to provide personalized instruction. She appreciates how technology bridges gaps, allowing her to reach students from a variety of backgrounds and with different needs. Watching her students thrive in a setting that nurtures their individual needs is one of the most rewarding aspects of her work.

“Ms. Bischoff is committed to her students’ success through her passion for fostering meaningful connections,” Dr. Jolley expressed. “She cares very deeply about tailoring each student’s experience to suit them best, demonstrating her immense dedication to her students’ engagement.”

Thank you, Ms. Bischoff, for all of the work you have done and continue to do in educating the children of South Carolina!
