Charter Institute Partners with Erskine College for $100,000 Scholarship Program

COLUMBIA, SC – – The Charter Institute announces the “Charter Institute Success Scholarship,” a new scholarship created by Erskine College that eligible Institute high school seniors may apply for in the 2025 school year. The scholarship will provide a total of $100,00 in tuition coverage over four years for qualified graduates of Institute charter schools who enroll at Erskine College.

“We are excited to initiate this incredible partnership with Erskine College that will open new avenues to higher education for our state’s students,” said Cameron Runyan, Superintendent of the Charter Institute at Erskine. “For those seniors interested in attending Erskine College, this new scholarship program provides a great opportunity to stay in-state and make college much more affordable. We are grateful to Dr. Steve Adamson, the President of Erskine College, its Board of Trustees, and administration leaders who helped make this program happen.”

The Institute currently has 2,246 seniors across their 26 charter schools. Graduates of Institute charter schools with a GPA of 3.5 or above are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

“This Charter Institute Success Scholarship from Erskine College provides a great incentive for Institute charter seniors and their families to explore the college and the academic programs it offers,” said Dr. Brian Newsome, school leader at Gray Collegiate Academy.  “This scholarship makes higher education more affordable and accessible to families and provides a great opportunity for students to pursue a degree and remain in state.”

Erskine College established the Charter Institute at Erskine in 2018. The Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves as the authorizer for 26 charter schools serving nearly 27,000 students and families in every county across the state.
