ORANGEBURG, SC – On Friday, July 21, the Willie Jeffries School of Excellence (WJSE) announced an upcoming documentary about Coach Willie Jeffries and the Willie Jeffries School of Excellence, titled “Success Has No Zip Code – The Story of Coach Willie Jeffries”. The documentary will detail the life of Coach Willie Jeffries and his involvement in the formation of the new public charter school.
The documentary will feature exclusive interviews with Coach Jeffries, his family, and the Berkeley Charter Education Association. Other featured interviewees include the founding principal of WJSE, Fabien McGill, past athletes who played under Coach Jeffries, and various South Carolina political figures.
“It is an honor to be selected as the subject for this documentary,” said Jeffries. “I hope it will inspire others to leave a lasting impact on their community, just as we hope to do through the opening of the Willie Jeffries School of Excellence.”
The documentary will be shared on the school’s social media channels and with news outlets. A premiere event will also be hosted in Orangeburg upon the documentary’s completion in early fall of 2023. The Willie Jeffries School of Excellence is a tuition-free, public charter school that will serve students grades K-6 in Orangeburg, S.C., opening for the 2024-2025 school year. At full matriculation, it will serve grades K-8. The WJSE academic plan is focused on a whole-child approach, real-world experiences, and an individualized student learning approach.
