SIMPSONVILLE, SC- The U.S. Department of Education has named Brashier Middle College (Brashier) a 2022 National Blue Ribbon School. Brashier was named an Exemplary High-Performing School, meaning that it is among South Carolina’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.
“This is such an exciting day for the Brashier family, past and present,” said current Brashier Principal Trina Freeman. “We could not have received this award without the leadership of our previous Principal Mike Sinclair, and I am so excited to lead us into our future as a Blue Ribbon school.”
Brashier is one of 5 South Carolina schools that received the award this year. Brashier is also the only charter school as well as the only high school in South Carolina to receive this award in 2022. The program, since its formation in 1982, has recognized more than 9,000 Great American Schools.
“I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people at Brashier. As we tell the students often, Hard Work Pays Off, and this award is a testament to their hard work,” said Mike Sinclair, Principal at Brashier at the time of their nomination.
Brashier Middle College is a public charter high school that serves grades 9-12 in Greenville County. Students have access to a top-quality high school education as well as college courses and facilities. Brashier is authorized through the Charter Institute at Erskine.
