SEction 504

The Charter Institute at Erskine 504 policy and procedural manual is intended to provide an overview of the rules and procedures used to implement Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (“Section 504”). “No pupil shall be discriminated against because of age, color, disability, parental status, marital status, race, national origin, religion, sex or veteran status. Parents of students who have a disability may request the Charter Institute at Erskine to make reasonable accommodations necessary for them to participate in essential instructional activities. Students who are at least eighteen (18) years of age may submit their own requests. Reasonable accommodations shall be provided as required by law.” It is the policy of the Charter Institute at Erskine to provide a free appropriate public education to each disabled student within its jurisdiction, regardless of the nature or severity of the disability. It is the intent of the district to ensure that students who are disabled within the definition of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 are identified, evaluated, and provided with appropriate educational services.

Questions and additional information regarding Disability Discrimination Under Section 504 and Title II should be directed to the Director of Special Education at 803-605-7249.
